Twenty five tear old Catherine Hunter; intelligent, attractive and entrepreneurial is the owner and sole director of Hunter Associates, a thriving new enterprise. In an attempt to ‘diversify’ her company she takes on a new young, black, female employee, Aula Akinwande as her PA. The result is disastrous, within a few weeks Catherine stands accused of racial and physical attacks. Under Government regulations, she’s consigned to Hardwicke House for a period of re-education where the teachers and wardens are happy to strap and cane her for her ‘racist’ behaviour.
She quickly realises that Hardwicke House is a prison and that she’s been sent their by corrupt officials in order that her business can be taken from her. Not only that but her sister and even her mother are drawn into the web of lies and corruption. In this new, rapidly changing political and social atmosphere, Catherine’s story is just one of many similar ones. More and more businesses are becoming ‘black owned’ and as a result many white employees are losing their well-paid managerial jobs. This is the story of how a woman, her family, and colleagues experience social demotion, painful punishments and humiliation at the hands of those they once considered inferior.
